Our Cascades Region Disaster Academy is moving Virtual for 2020. Don’t worry, we will be returning to Willamette University in the Spring of 2021, but let’s make the most of our time right now. We invite you to sign up for the Virtual Disaster Academy where you can learn something new, complete a G/A/P, gain confidence in your skills through workshops, and explore opportunities to serve within the American Red Cross.
Why should you attend the Virtual Disaster Academy? You'll have the chance to choose from over 100 training opportunities that will be available online through Edge, through partner training sites, or in a Red Cross Virtual Classroom. It's a great opportunity to complete your training, meet new people, and become more confident in your skills as a disaster worker.

Training Together
This year's Academy focus is for individuals to complete their Group / Activity / Position (GAP) training through online and virtual opportunities. If you aren't sure what you are interested in, we suggest you start off with the Group Activity Position Chart. The chart focuses on disaster response positions. Click the button on the right to see the opportunities.
Once you know what you are interested in, you can click on the Red Cross Training Catalog. We've color-coded the training options based on the training system required. You'll notice that much of the course work is highlighted yellow showing that those courses can be completed in EDGE, which is available 24-7 through your Volunteer Connection portal. Several other training options including FEMA, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx. Everyone will have the opportunity to become more familiar with Microsoft Teams for our Virtual Instructor Led Training. To help build your confidence Subject Matter Experts will be sharing their experience and answering questions through 30 to 60 minute Confidence Builder workshops, presentations, and panel discussions. Complete the Training Development Plan and identify your adventure for the Virtual Academy. When completed you will send it in as part of your free t-shirt activity. You'll receive more information about the Training Development Plan when you complete your registration.
