Things to know about the nec disaster camp
Out of respect for our donor dollars, this event has been planned with an eye toward creating the most comprehensive training event possible for the least cost and the least environmental impact. You will see this demonstrated by the facilities selected and the training methodologies. By making those choices, more volunteers and employees can be trained on how to provide vital services.
You will have a choice between two tickets: NEC Disaster Camp Commuter or NEC Disaster Camp Overnighter. Overnight tickets are $45 and are good for the entire event, depending on your course selections. A $25 Commuter ticket includes lunch and also can include dinner if you reserve it. |
Going Green
This will be a paperless event. We will not be printing course materials – everything will be provided to you electronically before the event. You will be asked in the registration process if you have a device (i.e. laptop, tablet, Kindle, etc.) you can bring with you; if not, a loaner will be provided to you at the event. If you want paper copies of your course materials, you will need to print those and bring them with you.

Lodging
Overnight participants will be adventuring as they stay in the gymnasium at the College of the Siskiyous. This will be a staff shelter that will offer new volunteers a chance to learn shelter skills. If you choose the overnighter ticket you will need to bring your blankets and pillow and we'll provide the cot. We are excited about the opportunity to practice our sheltering skills and believe this will help us with both our training and team building.
If you would rather stay in a local hotel in Weed, or Mt. Shasta, we recommend that you register as a commuter and then you will be responsible for your own overnight accommodations.
