Things to know about the Washington Institute
Out of respect for our donor dollars, this event has been
planned with an eye toward creating the most comprehensive training event
possible for the least cost and the least environmental impact. You will see this demonstrated by the
facilities selected and the training methodologies. By making those choices, more volunteers and
employees can be trained in on how to provide vital services. You will have a choice between three tickets: Washington Institute Commuter, Washington Institute Overnighter, or Washington Institute RVer. All tickets are $45 and are good for one to four days of training, depending on your course selections.
Going Green
This will be a paperless event.
We will not be printing course materials – everything will be provided
to you electronically before the event.
You will be asked in the registration process if you have a device (i.e. laptop, tablet, Kindle, etc.) you
can bring with you; if not, a loaner will be provided to you at the event. If
you want paper copies of your course materials, you will need to print those and
bring them with you.

Lodging
Lodging will
be available Thursday, January 22, Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January
24. The Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center is a rustic site and should not be confused with a hotel. This is a unique environment that meets our organizational needs. Most people will be housed in cabins or lodges; the rooms have anywhere from 3-15 beds, some of which are upper bunks. Some have shared bathrooms down the hall; some have bath houses / restrooms in an adjacent building which would require going outside and down the sidewalk. Men and women may be assigned in the same lodge, but will have separate sleeping rooms. There is no accommodation for couples. Showers will be limited if we reach our maximum capacity.
RV sites are available - electricity is available, but no water or sewer. There are 6 sites that are 50’ long, and many are 35’. There is a shower house for the RVers.
