Where: Camp San Luis Obispo Sonoma Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 Attendees: Red Cross volunteers, employees and partners. No outside guests allowed. Registration: Registration is Open Cost: $45 for Overnighters $25 for Commuters The cost of the Institute covers lodging, training, and most meals. (The Institute cost is the same for one class or multiple classes.) Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. |
Things to know about the Central California Disaster Institute
To invigorate our Red Cross family, strengthen partner relationships, and prepare our communities, the Central California Region is hosting a 3- day Training Institute. This opportunity is designed to motivate, energize, train, and prepare our Red Cross teams throughout the Region. Join us for some newly released courses such as Mass Care Management and Facilitative Leadership, along with a chance to meet or catch of with other Central Cal volunteers! Whether you are new to the Red Cross or have been a volunteer for several years, there something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you there!
-Aimee & Cliff You will have a choice between two tickets: Central California Institute Commuter or Central California Institute Overnighter. Overnight tickets are $45 and Commuter tickets are $25. Both tickets are good for one to four days of training, depending on your course selections. |
What to bring
- Your Red Cross flexibility, eagerness for collaboration, and, of course, your sense of humor. It's going to be an energizing weekend!
- Red Cross goes green! We are trying to save some trees so please feel free to bring a laptop, tablet, or other PDF reader if you have one available to review the course materials. Participant guides and handouts will be available to download upon course registration. Also, you can print your materials at home and bring them with you.
- Coffee will be provided in the morning, however feel free to bring your favorite snack (Swedish Fish) or caffeinated beverage (diet coke).
-San Luis Obispo weather is generally mild and windy in April. Please pack clothing appropriately. Also, there's some AMAZING hikes with beautiful views of the coast. We strongly encourage packing your hiking shoes.
-Courses and lodging are being held is separate locations around San Luis Obispo. Please understand there will be travel time involved and some navigation will be required. Maps and addresses will be provided prior to the event, so please familiarize yourself if you are coming from outside the area.

LodgingOvernight accommodations are available or two nights Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd, but limited. If you would like to say overnight, you will be sharing a rooms with another Red Crosser at a local hotel. Friday courses will start later in the morning.
